FAQs for Singers and Actors:
What do you teach?
I teach and coach singers and actors. My approach depends upon the student’s level and needs.
Do I have to audition?
Acceptance into the studio is by interview and/or audition. Usually, students are at least 16 years old, though occasionally I will accept a younger student. I have all ages and types in the studio.
What happens in a typical lesson?
With singers, we typically spend the first half of the lesson on warmup exercises, centering the breath, progressively challenging the instrument and then move on to working on songs. With actors, we usually discuss what is coming up and then jump into the current piece, breaking it down and finding the approach ~ monologues, or cold readings, or scene-work for auditions.
I also consult with performers about things like pictures, resumes, audition etiquette, stage fright....
Where is your studio?
I currently teach out of Meeker Music in downtown Colorado Springs http://www.meekermusic.com.
If schedules permit, I can come to you
for a slightly higher rate, provided you have space and a piano (voice students).
What is your rate and how often do students come in?
Please contact me for current rate. In deference to our still-struggling economy, I have kept my session cost
unchanged for several seasons.
Lessons run for 55 minutes, once per week at a regularly scheduled time.
I also offer one or two-time sessions for specific coaching at a slightly higher rate. Please contact for info.
What if I can’t make a lesson?
I require a 24-hour notice for cancellation, or you will be responsible for paying for that missed lesson. If you call me 24 hours ahead, I can try to reschedule you without an extra charge, and then I am also able to try and fill your regular time with someone else who may be waiting.
